Visiting Panga

Mommy took me to visit Mr. Panga during lunch time today. I don't really understand why. We had to wait for quite a while in the reception area and then he finally came out of his office and looked very surprised to see us. Mommy explained that he had told us to come back a month after the adoption finalized so he could check in on us, and so here we were. I don't think anyone has actually ever come back to visit him, because he looked absolutely shocked. And, he had no idea what to do with me. He looked me over and then told Mommy it was fine, he had seen me and we could go. And...that was that. VERY strange man!

Whatever, as long as I've got my Elella, life is fine and good and happy (or Appy as I would say).

Third Times a Charm

Today at lunch Mommy took me for my third haircut. The first two haircuts were rough. At the first one, both Mommy and I cried. At the second one, Mommy had figured out how to hold it together but I cried and cried (don't judge....its really scary to have them come at you with that razor thing and then it starts buzzing and making that awful noise. You would cry too, if it happened to you!).

Well, this time, I did not cry. I was a big, brave boy and now I have a brand new haircut and I am a dapper looking boy, if I do say so myself!

giving Mommy a run for her money

the last three days, I've been on a role. First, baby group, then 4th of July bbq. Mommy was thinking that it was just the excitement of it all. Today, she planned a quiet day at home. I wanted to let her know....it's not the excitement of social events, I've just decided to hit my terrible twos a bit early. Ha!

Well, sort of....she decided if I was hitting my terrible twos early, she'd be putting me to bed early. HMM!

4th of July

Wow! I have never gotten to celebrate 4th of July before, but let me tell you, if this is what the country that I'm going to become a citizen is like.....I wanna join RIGHT NOW!
We had a little bbq today for some friends to come over and celebrate American Independence today. Mommy was hosting. What makes that so fun is that she doesn't have time to constantly be monitoring my every move....especially with Shei Shei around. That means...FREEDOM....particularly fitting on this day of celebrating American FREEDOM. I got to run amok throughout the compound. I played a LOT with Aiden and Nema. My friends, Elias and Gabriel came to party as well.

I also learned how much I love corn today. I love it so much that I went around to every plate in or out of a person's hand that I could find. And, I swiped the corn right off of their plate and ate it. I ate a LOT of corn on the cob today. Mommy seemed mortified when she figured out what I had been up to. But, it's no different than swiping the milk bottle out of the hungry kids hands at the orphanage....you snooze, you loose!

Thanks to everyone for coming to our 4th of July celebration and thanks to America for becoming independent....I can't wait to meet you!

Life is a Party

I love my sister

Shei Shei is working so hard to grow up. She wants to be just like me. I'm going to help her learn all about being a big kid. Shei Shei is the best little sister ever!

Narcissism

I think I may be a narcissist! At least Mommy sometimes calls me that. I walk around the house and every photo or painting that hangs on our wall, I call out, "Akira" as I point to it. I do NOT understand why Mommy would have any thing hanging on the wall that wasn't me.

In fact, today, I looked at an Oprah magazine on the nightstand next to Mommy's bed. I pointed to the magazine and cried out, "Akira" and then I posed in the exact yoga stance as Oprah was in.....ommmmmmm

HAPPY

This is a new word that my friend, George, from Mommy's office taught me. I was in her office last weekend to help deliver some banana bread to our friends who were working some long hours in the office. George is a very fun and funny man and he is always laughing and happy. He told me that we could only be happy in his office and he taught me the word. I say it a lot now.
And, I am a very happy boy! Life is just a big picnic as far as I'm concerned and I love to laugh and giggle and smile ALL THE TIME! Here are some scenes from my happy day!

My Favorite Things to Say

I know a LOT of words now and copy almost everything that people say. I love to say "tank you" (thank you), and "Gunkey" (monkey), and "baboon", and "ipo" (hipo), and "pease" (please) and "more" and "done".

I still wave bye and say goodbye to everyone in a store or a restaurant as we walk through to leave. That really gets the crowds going.

And, I love to give hugs and kisses...about every 20 seconds I manage to either give a hug or a kiss to someone near me.

And, my Mommy's VERY favorite thing that I say is: "I wuv you" (I love you), which I say with great frequency and enthusiasm.

Happy Fathers Day!

I do not have an actual Father, per se....but I am one lucky little boy. I have two very wonderful men in my life who make up for the fact that I don't have a Dad.

My Grandad loves me so much and talks to me on the computer almost every single day! And, he is going to fly half way across the world in a while (which is not an easy thing for him to do and takes a lot of arranging from San Francisco, mind you) just because he wants to see me and Shei Shei. I can tell without every having actually seen him in person how much he loves me.

And, my Uncle Gogo. How in the world would I ever get by without an Uncle Gogo. I was even named after him. Uncle Gogo's name in Topher (Christopher, but most everyone calls him Topher). My middle name is Topher, in my uncles honor. It really is an honor to be named after him. He might drive my Mommy a little crazy sometimes and he might get in trouble for not getting his school work done, but let me tell you....he is one super cool Uncle! He plays with me every day, he takes care of me often....and he is the BEST teeth brusher in all the world. That is our special time together every night. Mommy leaves us alone to brush teeth together.

To the very special men in my life, I honor you today on Father's Day! Thanks for being there for me.....it makes me feel very special indeed.

oh, and in other news.....

Shei Shei's biological family came to see us today for a bit. They were fun and funny and I always love to ham it up in front of an audience.

Rockin the Blue Heron with Aiden

My partner in crime....my cohort.....my buddy.....my friend.

Aiden and I hung out today. It was pretty cool, except Linda and Mommy kept running around trying to spoil our fun. We tried to get out to the car park where there are sooo many fun cars to play with, and NO.....here they come running after us. We try to jump in the fountain to swim and play and OH NO.....here they come and grab us. We try to be friendly, introduce ourselves around to the other people at Blue Heron and OH GEEZE NO.....here they come to take us back to the table. No fun at all those grown ups.....I tell you.
